Include workers in social security scheme: Leader Koirala.

Biratnagar, May 14 (RSS):
Nepali Congress leader Dr Sekhar Koirala has viewed the social security fund should include the workers from informal sectors too.

Inaugurating the 7th convention of Trade Union Congress’ Koshi chapter in Itahari on Saturday, leader Koirala said numerous workers were involved in informal sector, so the social security scheme could be widened to address them too. He worried why they are missed in the security scheme.

On a different note, he said the fake Bhutanese refugee scam has tarnished Nepal’s image.

On the occasion, Minister for Youth and Sports, Dig Bahadur Limbu, vowed to work for rights of trade unionists. Both the Nepali Congress and government would pay heed to address their rights.

Also speaking on the occasion were Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Nagesh Koirala; and trade union leaders Laxman Bahadur Basnet and Khilanath Dahal.

Meanwhile, the convention has elected a new province committee under the leadership of Narayan Babu Karki.
