Electricity worth Rs 5.92 billion exported to India in Ashoj

The government resumed export of 40 MW power to Bangladesh through the Indian transmission line

Kathmandu, Oct 25: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) exported electricity worth over Rs 5.92 billion in the month of Ashoj (mid September to mid October).

Although the August 26 flood disaster had affected the hydropower production, causing a brief disruption in power export, it was increased in Ashoj.

Executive director at NEA, Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha, has informed that the transaction amount grew in Ashoj although the power supply was disturbed for some time earlier. Nearly two-thirds of total cross-border supply was made as per bilateral agreement.

Meanwhile, the government resumed export of 40 MW power to Bangladesh through the Indian transmission line.

NEA informed that it supplied over 630 units of electricity to India in the last month (Ashoj), thereby fetching Rs 5.92 billion income.

Similarly, the resumption of electricity supply to Bangladesh took place last Friday. The power export to Bangladesh was disrupted due to the Bhotekoshi flash flood occurred on August 26. The glacial disaster had damaged the Trishuli and Chilime Hydropower plants, which were permitted for the power export to Bangladesh.(RSS)
